Painted Kitchen, Fleckney, Leicestershire.
The brief from our client was to turn a “70’s” kitchen in a terraced cottage into a traditional shaker style kitchen whilst retaining certain elements of the building style.
To make the room look bigger and lighter it was decided to use white marble quartz worktops from NSQ which would incorporate a black undermount sink and taps.
The previous owner of the house had clad the walls in MDF panelling which hid poor plastering and finishing from when the pantry had been knocked into the kitchen. We removed all the panelling, rewired the kitchen providing additional sockets and recessed down lights in the new ceiling.
The original fireplace was retained plus the old quarry tiled floor.
Once all this was done along with the moving water and gas supplies we plastered the kitchen throughout.
The 2 original panelled doors were sent of to be stripped off all the old paint.
This was a pretty complicated installation as we found during fitting that the electrics were not up to current regs and we had to rewire parts of the downstairs and that many “DIY” alterations had been made to the kitchen over the years.
The Leicester Kitchen Co. provides a fully project managed installation ensuring that problems are overcome with a full team of various qualified and experienced tradesmen including fitters, electricians, plumbers, gas engineers, plasterers, builders and even painters and decorators.
